Neil Stanley
Neil Stanley graduated in law from the University of Hull in 1977. He qualified as a solicitor in 1981 and went on to practice law in East Yorkshire, where he worked for several law firms, before becoming a partner in a Hull-based practice. He has over 10 years UK-based, practical legal experience. He joined a specialist planning consultancy in 1990, which was associated with a large provincial law firm. During his time with the planning consultancy, he was involved in the drafting of planning legislation for St Lucia. Neil has been employed by the Law Department of the University of Leeds sine 1993. He undertakes teaching and research in the following areas: water pollution, waste management, Integrated Pollution Control, environmental regulation, EC environmental law and risk. His recent research-related publications include articles on judicial approaches to water pollution incidents in England and public fears created by locally undesireable land uses. Neil's primary role within the Cyclops Project is to translate the research findings into a form which will be 'user-friendly' to policymakers, and to write the regulatory executive summary.
