Research Interests
Phil's research is focussed on understanding the origin of our planet's magnetic field. Over the course of his 5 year NERC advanced fellowship, he will work on producing a new generation of more realistic computer models of the Earth's fluid outer core that he hopes will admit a much better understanding of the processes involved in sustaining the geomagnetic field.
More broadly, he is interested in theoretical geophysics and high performance computing.
